From discovering historic romance in Paris and Florence to A-list stays in Marrakesh and London, award-winning hotel website Mr & Mrs Smith created a superb list of most romantic stays for Valentine’s Day:

Villa Cora in Florence, Italy

With its beautiful architecture, renaissance art, as well as charming shops and restaurants, Florence is the perfect city for romance and its beautiful Villa Cora located by the magnificent Giardini di Boboli is definitely one of the most elegant places to stay. Its opulent design with ornate frescoes and rose motifs reflects the love of Baron Gustave Oppenheim who built the villa in 1860s for his wife Cora. It features a big heated outdoor pool, subterranean spa with sauna, steam room, gym, garden, roof terrace and a cigar room, and the prices start at € 280 per night.

Les Dames du Panthéon in Paris, France

Paris is the most romantic city in the world for many couples and Les Dames du Panthéon is the perfect hotel if you want to experience its charms to the full. It is beautifully located on the hilltop Place du Panthéon, only a five-minute walk away from the Jardin du Luxembourg and it overlooks the historical Latin Quarter. It is a spectacular neoclassical manor with magnificent gardens, outdoor and indoor pool, spa, gym, snooker room, tennis and squash courts, boathouse, helipad and a library. Superbly furnished rooms were named after memorable personalities who are a part of manor’s history, including the Henry James suite that boasts a 10-mile view or idyllic English countryside, and prices for one night stay start at € 400.

The Standard, High Line in New York, America

The Standard, High Line in New York is another gorgeous hotel from Mr & Mrs Smith’s list of ‘scandalous stays’ for Valentine’s day. It is packed with celebrities and boasts sweeping views of New York City skyline over the Hudson River. It was created by the celebrated hotelier Andre Balazs and it features elegant modern-style interiors with floor-to-ceiling glass walls. The building is elevated and the views get better the higher you go, while comfortable rooms feature bath tubs and walk-in showers with spectacular views.

La Mamounia in Marrakesh, Morocco

Mr & Mrs Smith’s ‘A-list Tryst’ list includes a spectacular La Mamounia hotel in Marrakesh where you need to pay over € 400 per night, but this Ottoman-style opulence is definitely worth it. Hotel is nestled in the royal gardens and features a spa with hammam, outdoor pool, beauty salon, gym, tennis courts and a library. Beautiful rooms with king-size baldaquin beds and garden views are truly decadent and one of the suites is named after Winston Churchill as he was a regular guest.

The Portobello Hotel in London, England

Located in the iconic Notting Hill area, the Portobello Hotel is the perfect choice for a romantic stay in London. There are ‘Better’, ‘Good’, ‘Great’ and ‘Exceptional’ rooms, each beautifully decorated with vintage mirrors and painted walls, and prices start from € 188.
