Styled Shoot: Summer Soirée

Lush, languorous and so very mellow. Your summer afternoon wedding feast will delight your guests as they celebrate surrounded by the warmth of these glorious, sun drenched tones.

Take full advantage of the summer season and decorate your soirée to match. We started our setting off with a crisp white damask tablecloth and opted for these divine white tiffany chairs.

The plateware you choose has the potential to either make or break a setting – so we were delighted to find our stunning option. Notice how the silver grey plate decoration works together perfectly with the silvery tones of our vintage flower urn. By taking special care with these small details, the various elements of your table setting will be drawn together to create a beautiful and harmonious whole.

We couldn’t go past our sculptured cutlery as the ideal match for our plateware, and although we experimented with several different ideas, we thought that our golden yellow napkins looked their best simply folded and placed on the side plates. Sparkling glassware gives a setting a very special lift and we opted for ours because of its classically simple, clean lines. The jug we selected – and filled with thirst quenching homemade lemonade – is from the same beautiful range.

Another make or break moment for any table setting? Your centre-piece. We chose to say it with flowers: ivory and yellow roses, lisianthus, poppies, billy buttons, Queen Anne’s lace and brunia blend together in glorious profusion, highlighted with touches of freesia, Easter daisies, chrysanthemums and lemon fruit and foliage. We think you’ll agree that our setting’s overall look is warm and elegant, yet sumptuous – just perfect for a lazy summer afternoon wedding celebration.

We were absolutely delighted with our summer soirée bouquet. Our selection of acacias, freesias, ivory and yellow roses and parrot tulips worked beautifully with the muted greens of our succulents. Now, we know that succulents aren’t the first thing that come to mind when considering a bridal bouquet, but you will find that it’s those little touches of the unexpected that add so much unforgettable style to your wedding day.

Which is why we decided to use fresh lemons as a part of our table and floral decoration – and of course their shape and colour are echoed by the pretty yellow billy buttons in our gorgeous bouquet.

As a finishing touch, we opted for these delightful small white bomboniere vases by Weddingstar and added to their simple charm with little sprigs of Easter daisies. Our elegant place cards, with each guest’s name delicately hand-written, are also by Weddingstar and readily available via stockists and online.

And then there’s our pièce de résistance: our glorious summer soiree wedding cake; a work of simple, understated elegance. The gorgeous icing flowers add a delicacy and softness that work wonderfully with our summer celebration theme. Our choice of sweet treats didn’t end there. These delicious citron tartlets complemented our theme with both their colour and divine lemon flavour. And if you have chosen a monogram made up of both your initials as one of your wedding day motifs, why not have it replicated in icing on your tartlets, cupcakes or any other mouthwatering little delicacies you choose.

To finish our table setting we decided on another little surprise with the stylish addition of our elegant shot glasses by Weddingstar. Filled with the heavenly Italian lemon liqueur, Limoncello, it is traditionally served chilled as an after-dinner treat.

Turn the page for our summer soiree stationery inspiration boards and you’ll see some very pretty ways to combine various shades of yellow into your invitations, place cards and other items in your wedding stationery suite. Or, opt for the greys and blues of our backdrop, or the more contemporary style and textures of our taupe stationery which complements our plateware. Simply perfect!
