Their love story begins on New Year’s Eve many years ago when Sarah and Hugo shared their first kiss.?Not long after they whisked off together overseas to live in the South of France and have never spent a New Year’s Eve apart since!
For the proposal Hugo got down on one knee in Rome. He wanted to do it on the Bridge of Angels, but Sarah accidentally ruined the moment by hailing a taxi. Instead, it happened the next day while they were walking past an antique shop and of course, Sarah said “Yes”! The couple wanted a relaxed wedding venue away from the city, so they decided to tie the knot at the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron. The ceremony was held on the rooftop with beautiful views of Port Phillip Bay.
They wed under a floral arch made by Hugo’s father and beautifully decorated by Shaneka from My Flower Room. Sarah first saw the arch when she was walking down the aisle and gasped with such amazement, she thought it was perfect and of course, it helped that her handsome husband-to-be was standing under it. Sarah walked down the aisle to ‘Can’t help falling in love’ by Elvis Presley sung by a dear friend of the couple, Chantelle Delaney.
The bride wore a fit-and-flare lace wedding dress by Nurit Hen which Sarah purchased at Mirror Mirror in London. It was the second store Sarah went into and she only had her 12 month old daughter with her. “Selecting a wedding dress can be a daunting experience but having my daughter’s eyes light up made me realise I was in the perfect wedding dress!”. Sarah searched and searched for the perfect shoes. She wanted something comfortable and not too high. Sarah’s favourite second hand shop in Monaco is where she found her perfect shoes… Vintage Rene Caovilla worth over 1000 euro for just a couple of hundred dollars!
The bridesmaids lived all across Australia so getting everyone together to find a dress was difficult. It was in Kookai that one of the girls found a beautiful white strapless dress that suited each bridesmaid perfectly! They all wore a different pair of nude heels and a simple drop necklace.

Shaneka from My Flower Room was everything we were after and more. She understood what I wanted without it costing a fortune. I put my faith in her hands and she delivered. She also decorated the beautiful arch that we married under which was made by Hugo’s Father.
The ceremony & reception venue was held at the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron which meant their guests weren’t running around Melbourne on a hot summer’s day (which it was – 38 degrees). Sarah and Hugo married on the rooftop followed by drinks and canapés. They then moved into the Harbour Room downstairs and watched a spectacular sunset before dinner. There were a lot of speeches during the reception and so much love in the room!
The first dance song was ‘Thinking out loud’ by Ed Sheeran, which saw everyone up and dancing, and making incredible memories that will be treasured for the rest of their lives

Lyndel and Daniel from Lost In Love Phography were perfect for our wedding. They perfectly captured our day and I am still going through the photos finding new images I love each week. They were so wonderful to work with and it was so nice having a duo of photographers. They never missed a moment.
