How They Met

Steph and Ben found each other on Tinder. Their first date was at a tequila bar in Sydney’s Surry Hills.

The Proposal

After four weeks of dating they started discussing marriage! “We both fell pretty hard and fast”, said Steph. They got engaged 18 months later. Ben wanted to surprise Steph and ask her parents in person to give him a blessing. He had secretly flown to Melbourne to speak to her mum and dad. Then he purchased a bespoke engagement ring and managed to give her the surprise of her life. They got home one evening and he started playing a video with various photographs they made throughout their relationship. The very last image was the one with Steph’s mum and dad with the words “and they gave me their blessing” written on it.

The Bride's Gown

Steph wore a Custom Sant Elia, she had always dreamed of a non-traditional wedding dress and liked the idea of a skirt. It was a cropped backless lace top with hand sewn small flowers and lace applique with tassels that were individually placed across the front and back. The high waisted skirt had layers of tulle over the top with a large split up the front and lace applique detail across the back and up the split. She wanted an outfit that she felt comfortable in and that reflected her fashion sense and she thought Steph from Sant Elia absolutely nailed it. "I felt very boho chic especially after the ceremony when I put on my custom feathered crown, it all just came together beautifully!" said Steph

The Groom's Suit

Ben’s custom suit was also a huge talking point, he looked like a real life Disney prince (in Steph’s opinion). Steph screamed when she walked into the room and laid eyes on Ben. It was really magic!

The Venue

Steph & Ben wed at the Inglis Newmarket Stables – a chic rustic space built in the 1880s and it was ideal for their vintage chic theme.

The Styling

They sourced a lot of furniture and decorations themselves and styled the venue with gorgeous details including a large ornate gold mirror, retro glasses and decanters, a mix of pendant, festoon and fairy lights and long wooden tables adorned with greenery, tea lights and copper vases. They wanted a large space filled with beautiful things that truly reflected their personalities.

The Bomboniere

Their bomboniere was a cheeky reminder of how they met; Tinder-shaped cookies placed inside brown hessian bags.

The Special Details

The couple made a lot of little things which added to the overall look and feel of the night. they had coasters made in sepia colours for every guest that had photos of the couple, all of their friends and family and places they had been on them. "We thought it would be nice for people to walk around and find photos of themselves (by the end of the night no doubt stained in red wine)!" Said Steph.

The couple had a Hugeairs whisky bar with all of their favourite spirits listed out on a large mirror and easel, a large copper horse head and chesterfields arm chairs, a vanity room complete with floor to ceiling ornate gold full length mirror and a cloak room fitout with Steph’s nanas vintage suit case and a framed photograph of “Teddy” bens childhood bear.

The Grooms Speech

After Ben finished his speech, the lights dimmed and a spotlight shone on him. He surprised Steph by singing Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’. “I had never heard him sing like that. He was incredible. Halfway through we kissed and the whole place erupted, it was like a movie!” said Steph.

We themed each of the little rooms off the main reception area to have an element of us. We had a whisky bar with all our favourite spirits, a vanity room complete with a floor-to-ceiling ornate gold mirror and a cloak room with Steph’s nana’s vintage suitcase as a wishing well.
