How They Met
Rachel & Callum met online, but they didn’t tell anyone until the wedding day, Rachel revealed the fact to her parents on the way to the ceremony.
Callum had been planning the proposal for months. He had found the perfect beach, but when the two arrived, a storm was rolling in, but the ring was burning a hole in his pocket, so he persuaded Rachel to join him on the beach to “take some photos”. She begrudgingly trudged down to the beach and told him that she was going to wait between the sand dunes. He sat next to her and asked the question, she was so surprised that she forgot to say yes or even look at the ring. The skies opened up and they stayed for an hour and then joined Callum’s brother and sister-in-law and celebrated with champagne and lots of hugs.
The Morning Of The Wedding
The couple broke tradition and spent the night before the wedding together and also had a pre-ceremony, first-look photo shoot and said it was a great decision because they were relaxed and excited about the ceremony.
The Wedding Dress
The bride’s gown was a vintage dress purchased from Rue de Seine bridal in Auckland, New Zealand. Rachel had a Skype meeting with their stylist, who helped take her measurements and showed her the dress. Within days, it had been shipped to Australia. A few alterations were done by Jasmine at Sarta Boutique to make it Rachel’s perfect wedding dress.
Their theme was inspired by autumnal botanicals and the venue was adorned with lots of greenery and seasonal blooms. The colour palette included beautiful shades of green, peach and creams with subtle metallic touches.
They tied the knot in front of a giant oak tree in the enchanting garden surrounding the Stangate House and hosted their reception at the Tenth & Gibson which they spotted before they got engaged. The stylish warehouse was tastefully styled with festoon lights, charming furniture and many gorgeous details including a chalkboard drinks menu designed by one of the bridesmaids.
They knew that they wanted a ceremony that was relaxed and very personal. After a lot of research, they came across Modern Celebrants Adelaide, and met Penelope. Penelope from Celebrations By Penelopy was kind, informative, thorough and made a conscious effort to ensure the couple had a ceremony that was prefect for them.
Dan Evans was the number one pick for photographer, and the couple chose our wedding date based on his availability. They couple said "Dan is friendly, enthusiastic, so creative and just an all round great guy, and having him photograph our wedding was a real pleasure. On the day he was so helpful, and even helped co-ordinate the start of our ceremony! His style worked so well with our late autumn wedding, and we still can’t get over just how great our wedding photos turned out."
