Carly and Brett met each other in high school and it started as a friendship. When they were 20 years old, they lived in the same area and kept running into each other and sharing a taxi home. Their first official date in 2008 was supposed to be a dinner at the Gold Coast, but they got wrapped up in talking to each other until 11pm and ended up eating sandwiches at Subway.
After six years of love, laughter and companionship, Brett surprised Carly with a romantic proposal. He took her to the Gold Coast for her birthday and hired a penthouse which had access to the private rooftop pool area overlooking the ocean. He said he wanted to show her something before dinner and took her to the rooftop which he previously adorned with candles.
He started talking but was so nervous and jumbling his words, so he just dropped to one knee said ‘Will you marry me?’ – I was so surprised I said ‘thank you’ when, of course, I meant yes
The couple started planning their wedding by looking at several wedding venues, and they instantly fell in love with the beautiful Ecostudio Fellini located in the Gold Coast hinterland. Nestled away in the picturesque foothills of Springbrook National Park, this intimate rustic-style venue boasts stunning gardens, a gorgeous lily pond, gorgeous function spaces, superb catering and exquisite service. It is ideal for intimate parties as well as cocktail receptions of up to 500 people, and Carly and Brett invited 100 guests to their wedding.
“Ecostudio Fellini had everything we wanted for the wedding and reception”, said Carly. “The natural setting gives it such a relaxed, intimate ambience and it feels like you are a million miles away in your own little enchanting world”. Brett created all of the signs and decorative pieces so they saved on wedding accessories and splurged on photography and video instead.
They wed in a charming open-air chapel overlooking the tranquil Mudgeeraba creek and then went to take photos on various gorgeous locations within the five acres of grounds, before joining their guests for drinks and canapés at the split-level reception deck overlooking the lily pond and gardens. Award-winning Gold Coast Italian restaurant Fellini offered a menu of delicious hand-crafted gourmet canapés.
“We always wanted a rustic chic style for our wedding, which suited the reception deck perfectly with its large French windows, soft pendant lighting and extensive use of timber and iron”, said the bride. The other half of the deck was set up as a dance floor where the couple shared their first dance under the stars. “Every aspect of the venue looked magnificent and our wedding co-ordinator, Anna from Ecostudio Fellini, ensured everything was perfect and ran smoothly so we could completely relax and enjoy our special day”.
