Alicia and Jase met through mutual friends when they were 18 years old. They felt an instant connection. She noticed him in a crowded bar and grabbed his hand. “My heart skipped a beat when he held my hand again straight away”, she remembers. Even today they tease each other about who showed interest first.
Although they had been together for 8 years, Jase’s proposal was a complete surprise for Alicia. During their cruise trip to the Pacific Islands, they stopped at Mystery Island, Vanuatu where they found a secluded beach. Before she could figure out why Jase looked so nervous, he was already on one knee with a stunning 1.5 ct diamond ring which he designed and hand-crafted himself. He said that he wanted to ask that question for a long time and they both started crying.
The couple opted for a destination wedding because they wanted a holiday with their closest friend and family rather than a classical wedding celebration. Both ceremony and reception were held at the Westin Resort and Spa in beautiful Langkawi, Malaysia. They exchanged their vows and rings during the sunset on the beach, while the reception was venue was a fabulous open-air space around the infinity pool. It was a relaxed event and everyone had fun!
Alicia walked down the aisle in a fitted lace dress custom-made by Red Pearl Couture. Her bridal accessories included a lovely hand-crafted headpiece made from French lace and pearls which perfectly complemented the gown. Despite the beach ceremony, she wore high heels in “something blue”, while her wedding ring, engagement ring and pearl earrings were made with love by her groom who is a jeweller. She also wore a pearl bracelet which was a present from her mother who also had it on her wrist on her big day.
Details that made their wedding different from all the others include hand-crafted stationery made by the bride and groom, as well as a stunning beach bar with tropical-style cocktails and delicious canapés. They also had a unique wedding cake made from chocolate and fresh raspberries, as well as a mouth-watering dessert buffet which included chocolate and pistachio served in martini glasses, passionfruit pannacotta and white chocolate and raspberry trifle.
Lighting was an essential part of their evening reception. They had flameless tea lights presented in heart-shaped candle holders scattered everywhere which added romance to their magnificent outdoor venue. Centrepieces, bouquets and the ceremony arch were made from a variety of white blooms and green foliage.
Following their amazing destination wedding in Langkawi, Alicia and Jase spent three weeks in Japan and Thailand. The highlights of their honeymoon included snowboarding at Hilton Niseko Village, crossing the famous Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo and snorkelling on a private longtail boat in Phuket.
