Danica and Cameron met in High School and they have been together ever since. “It is quite a simple story, and yet one that is quite rare these days”, says Danica. “Despite many times that we’ve been long-distance over the years, we’ve managed to stay together and become stronger as a couple”.
Cameron proposed on the last day of their Christmas holiday in New Zealand in 2010. They were watching the sunrise over cathedral cove in the Coromandel peninsula when he popped the question.
It was lovely, there was no one around, and it was just us overlooking this amazing scene
They wed on 1st of November 2014, and instead of planning a big celebration, the couple opted for a relaxed destination wedding and a guest list that included only 35 people. They hosted their ceremony and reception at Merribee in Numbaa which was the perfect country venue for their intimate celebration.
The ceremony was held in a beautiful enclosed garden and performed by Cameron’s father. The bride picked a simple but very stylish contemporary wedding gown made from delicate white lace, designed by Lover, while the groom opted for a chic navy suit by Vanishing Elephant to match the maid of honour’s gorgeous dress. The décor was kept to a minimum because they wanted both ceremony and reception to feel like an extension of the space. Rustic-style flower arch perfectly complemented the lush garden.
They hosted their banquet reception in Merribee’s beautiful rose garden. The theme for their elegant outdoor wedding reception was inspired by the enchanting beauty of their country venue in the NSW. They found a company that makes furniture and decorations from recycled timber, and these pieces looked gorgeous against the green backdrop. The colour palette comprised natural hues which were combined with splashes of bright colour.
Apart from the colourful floral centrepieces which included various shades of pink, small details in turquoise and strings of lightbulbs suspended above the wooden, there were barely any wedding decorations because Danica and Cameron wanted the natural environment to take the centre-stage. The celebration lasted for four days, and the couple had the opportunity to spend quality time with their family and friends before heading off to their honeymoon in Tasmania.
