Working with clients like Jess & Ben really does make photographing weddings such an enjoyable day, it’s hard to call it “work”!

A few months prior to their wedding, I worked with Jess & Ben to capture some pre-wedding images. I always like to let my couple’s relax and feel comfortable so we simply walked around the Sydney CBD. It didn’t take long for me to realise just how much fun these two people were! So many laughs and smiles, I couldn’t wait to shoot their big day!

Fast forward and the big day arrives. Seeing Ben get ready at his parents’ house with his groomsmen all still eating breakfast, not dressed 30 minutes before they were supposed to leave was interesting. But when Ben presented all his groomsmen with individual cufflinks (each a different Super Hero logo) was great to see, such a personal touch.
Jess was at her grandparents’ house with the amazing hair & makeup girls getting ready and along with lots of dancing and champagne & strawberries, a beautiful moment was her dad seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time. The smile was unmistakable!

It was onto the beautiful and classic Barker College Chapel for their wedding reception where everyone was on time, but that didn’t stop someone’s phone from ringing mid-ceremony and Jess quickly putting them into place!

The highlight of the day for me was our location for our after ceremony photos. It was around a 30 minute drive to Fagan Park, Galston. With the newlyweds arriving before the rest of the bridal party it was a perfect time to capture some beautiful, candid photos of the couple. The flawless afternoon light and stunning gardens of Fagan Park were a perfect match and both Jess & Ben were in their element around the grounds – laughing, smiling and enjoying their first few hours as husband & wife.

With the rest of the bridal party arriving, we walked to some European Gardens with the sun slowly dipping behind. A fantastic spot for a relaxed bridal party photo!

After the sun had well and truly set for the evening, we travelled to The Hills Lodge and the reception began! With some laughs (and tears!) during the speeches, the last surprise of the day was left for their First Dance.

Not only was it a perfectly choreographed routine running for 3 minutes that they’d been rehearsing for months, the grand finale was an enormous dip from Ben with Jess fully outstretched – which happened to be right under the chandelier! A Picture Perfect moment that I’m sure they’ll cherish for years to come.

Being a boutique wedding photographer and keeping everything in-house, I not only got to spend the entire day with Jess & Ben but I also got to know who they were and they got to know me as well. It’s why I like to work with my clients and also why I’m able to capture such special, candid & natural moments.
