Choosing Your Celebrant

Having the right marriage celebrant conducting your wedding ceremony is important. These tips will help you find the perfect one.

Are you dreaming of a romantic wedding ceremony by the ocean or in a lush rainforest? Perhaps you have found a very special place and fallen in love with it? Do you want to write your own vows? Do you want to have a special ritual performed at your ceremony? Whatever you have in mind, you need to find a celebrant who really understands you and your partners needs and wants to turn your wedding dreams into reality.

When choosing a marriage celebrant, look for someone who has both the experience and knowledge. Do your research. Read celebrants’ biographies and find out how long have they been a celebrant, how many weddings have they conducted and what celebrant qualifications do they have. You will also want to read testimonials and find out what other couples thought about their services. If you are concerned about your celebrant’s attire, you can ask what kind of clothes they normally wear, or check out their social media pages to see recent photos.

In order to decide whether the celebrant you have found is the right one for you, you need to talk to them. Whether it is a Skype conversation or face to face, you need to establish if it is a person you both feel comfortable with. Your wedding ceremony is one of the most emotional moments in your life. Therefore your marriage celebrant should be someone you will be able to share these emotions with.

The celebrant should be able to help you with all the aspects of planning a wedding ceremony. If you have found a region or a suburb where you want to have your ceremony but need some location ideas, then you need an experienced celebrant who can recommend a few nice places. Or perhaps you have the location but are stuck with writing your vows? Then you should find a celebrant who can help you with the wording.

To make sure everything will go smoothly on the day, you should ask your celebrant a few more questions. Find out what kind of a PA system they have and whether you can use it for your ceremony music. Check if there are additional fees if you are late for the ceremony and if there is a replacement in case your celebrant gets ill or can’t perform the ceremony for any other reason.

Don’t forget that the best marriage celebrants are very busy and should be booked well ahead, so start searching as soon as possible!
