After he escorts you down the aisle, your father will have another important role at your wedding: to dance with you at the reception. It is a special and very sentimental moment for every bride, so choose your song carefully. First thing you need to do? Pick your mood. Will it be a slow tune that is easy to dance to? Or a cheerful, upbeat song? Listen to the lyrics and pick something happy, up-lifting and sentimental.
Not sure who should pick the song? You can dedicate a song to your father or let him pick one for you. Some songs are inspired by father and daughter love such as ‘Father and Daughter’ by Paul Simon or ‘A Song for My Daughter’ by Ray Allaire, while others are about a duaghter leaving home for the first time such as ‘She is Leaving Home’ by The Beatles. If you want something and cheerful and unique then dance to the sounds of Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s version of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ from The Wizard of Oz or if you are a hopeless romantic, then play ‘Stairway to the Stars’ by Ella Fitzgerald or ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ by Steve Tyrell which was featured in the movie Father of the Bride (1991).
