A statement cuff, or the right necklace can be the finishing touch to a plain bodice or bare neckline. Likewise, carefully selected earrings add elegance and draw attention to your face, particularly if you’re wearing an up style. Then there’s your gown. The style you’ve selected will dictate the length of your veil (if you’re going to wear one) and the type of accessories that you should consider. Depending on the style of your gown and your wedding theme, a romantic floral crown, or a few fragrant blooms scattered through your hair may be the only accessories you need.
Wedding jewellery can be gold or silver, but if your gown is white, you’ll find that its particular shade will match some metals better than others. And if you like the idea of pearls, diamantés or crystals, opt for the timeless elegance of diamond drop earrings with a simple strand of pearls, or a diamond necklace. If you’re wearing a halter neck gown, add larger diamond earrings and you’re sure to dazzle.
Got your heart set on a headpiece? Remember that your gown and headpiece should complement each other. So, if your gown has a pearl feature, look for a headpiece with accents of pearls. Of course, the shape of your face and your wedding day hairstyle are also deciding factors, so wear your hair in your chosen style when trying headpieces on.
Lastly, a clever tip: many brides select a pretty accessory for each bridesmaid to wear on the day and for them to keep as their traditional ‘thank you’ gift so make sure you gift wrap them and get your photographer to cpature the moment you give them the gift!
