For The Bride

You are about to enter one of the most exciting times of your life. Not only do you have to source a range of service providers, you also have to consider your pre-wedding beauty, fitness program, book hairstylist appointments, find a gown, arrange fittings, select shoes… The list goes on!

So, where to begin? Put together a wedding preparation timeline (see our Planner at the back of each edition of The Bride's Diary® for some useful tips) to ensure that everything is done with time to spare and that nothing is forgotten.

Your bridal party’s attire is an important item on your list. Outfits for your bridesmaids, young attendants, and both your mothers will need to be sourced – and this shouldn’t be left until the last few weeks, particularly if you are shopping for fabrics and having outfits made. Next, add lingerie to your list: delicate lace for your honeymoon as well as undergarments suitable to wear with your gown. A gorgeous perfume is also a wedding day must, and if you want to try something new, start the search with plenty of time in hand.

Accessories add that something special to any outfit, and your wedding day attire is no exception. Choose your accessories with care so that they enhance, rather than overwhelm, your gown’s features. And you will no doubt want to lavish some TLC on your wedding gown, both before and after the big day, so be sure to read our handy article, ‘Taking Care of Your Gown’ and check our Planner in each edition of The Bride's Diary® for more useful tips.

Much of your wedding day will be spent on your feet. This makes your selection of shoes critical. Sore feet generally result in a strained smile! Thankfully, there are so many divine styles to choose from that you’ll find it easy to achieve an elegant look that is at the same time comfortable and kind to your feet.

And to be truly radiant on the day, many brides take special care with their diet and if they don’t already have one, embark upon a fitness program. You may even want to enlist the help of a personal trainer.

Add to these strategies regular facials and spa treatments and you’ll be sure to look fabulous on your big day! Beautiful hair is also essential if you are to look your best, and you’ll need to discuss wedding day hairstyles with your hairdresser, as well as a pre-wedding hair care program.

You’ll be the focus of your photographer’s attention on the day, so little details will matter. Have your nails professionally manicured and French polished for a look of timeless sophistication. And to ensure your wedding day smile dazzles, you may wish to consult your dentist for advice on treatments to whiten your teeth, and to correct any particularly noticeable flaws.
