The Head Designer, Coral Johnston has more than 25 years of experience in styling and designing wedding gowns. She works with a team of experienced and talented sewers, patternmakers and hand finishers, but she insists on seeing all clients herself – still to this day. From your first visit to the last fitting, she will be supervising the making of your dream gown!
She had created her first dress at the age of 6 on a treadle sewing machine in New Guinea, then worked in a studio loft in Newcastle and finally opened her bridal boutique in Sydney in 2004. Together with her team, Coral has created over 2000 breath-taking couture wedding gowns. She genuinely loves meeting new brides and guiding them. "It is great to be part of this thriving industry in NSW and be involved in something that is constantly evolving", she says. The number of wedding invitations she gets every year from her clients is a proof that her heart and soul are tied to her business!
Being so delicate and intricately embellished, wedding gowns usually take about 6 to 9 months to create. Shorter time frames can sometimes be accommodated, depending on the time of year as well as design and fabrics used. Prices start at $3000 and the average sale is around $4900. There are standardly 5 fittings for each gown and the dresses are ready to be picked up about three weeks prior to the wedding day. Fittings for interstate and overseas clients can be negotiated and arranged with the designer. Sometimes just two visits are all that is required if booked ahead.
