Dior's spring/summer 2018 haute couture collection was a fascinating presentation at the Musée Rodin in Paris. From the very beginning, haute couture was crucially connected to modern art and Maria Grazia Churi wanted to emphasise this connection with a couture line-up that is inordinately creative and whimsical. While the collection is undoubtedly contemporary, there are obvious references to Christian Dior’s iconic New Look range mirrored in elegant silhouettes. At the same time, designs are utterly modern featuring sharp geometric shapes and complex constructions.
