Monique Lhuillier is best known for her wedding dresses that capture the essence of sophisticated luxury by provoking femininity, allure and glamour. She often plays with innovative silhouettes and unconventional colour palettes, but her spring bridal range for 2019 is solely focused on timeless elegance and regal glamour. There is something nostalgic about these wedding dresses because they are an ode to classic romanticism. They are taking us back to the olden days when everything was much more poetic and colourful! However, these retro looks were updated with some trendy elements such as tiered skirts, plunging necklines, off-the-shoulder sleeves and satin bows meticulously wrapped around waists. The modern-day definition of a bride is definitely there, but the mood of the collection is 19th-century romance and the contrast is palpable.

The selection of bridal fabrics included luxury silk tulles and re-embroidered laces, silk crepes and duchess satin, while the colour palette was restricted to whites, nudes and ivories. Some of the dresses that caught our eye were the strapless ball gown made of dotted tulle, the satin and lace trumpet gown with a cummerbund waist, the tiered ball gown made of satin and tulle and the embellished tulle sheath gown with fluttery sleeves, deep V-neck and a velvet sash.

How to accessorise these breath-taking wedding gowns? Just keep it simple with pearl earrings and a big, bold engagement ring from Monique Lhuillier’s jewellery collection! Some dresses were topped with classic tulle veils, while others were styled with detachable shoulder streamers.
