Temperley London is a quintessentially British brand that specialises in crafting dreamy wedding gowns meticulously embroidered by hand. Couture craftsmanship, unique designs and distinct vintage feel make these gowns stand out from everything else on the bridal fashion market. They are “deeply romantic, ethereal and decadent”, crafted from finest bridal fabrics available.
The latest collection for bridal spring 2019 stays true to brand’s signature aesthetics but also introduces new and intriguing elements we haven’t seen before. Inspiration comes from incredibly detailed, ornate and colourful antique botanical drawings and vintage lingerie rich in intricate laces. The two influences were merged together and the result was a wonderful range that offers everything from striking ball gowns and delicate A-line styles to sexy trumpet silhouettes and the understated glamour of a classic column shape.
Boudoir-inspired elements such as exposed corset structures appear on a number of wedding gowns, but elsewhere sheer overlays and illusion details created that modern sex appeal entangled with romance and charm of bygone eras. Impossibly thin and lightweight layers of tulle are painstakingly embroidered and sometimes sprinkled with miniature crystals, sequins and beads.
Our favourite piece? Definitely, the Lucille ball gown which comes in two versions: the one in pure white with subtle silver embellishments and the one with floral accents in pink. Other striking wedding gowns included the fitted Toledo dress and Aubrey which is also available in white and with a pop of colour.
The collection is steeped in nostalgia! Floral motifs included white or colourful wildflowers, exotic blooms, foliage, feathers and birds. The iconography borrowed from old books and retro textiles evokes that uniquely British vision of the world and adds rustic-bohemian flair to the dresses.
Each wedding gown can be worn with a matching veil or a crystal-studded hair accessory, but you can also complement your outfit with an oversized, unstructured, multi-coloured bridal bouquet which pairs so well with these opulent boho dresses.
