This beautiful collection is Wes Gordon’s first collection as creative director of the brand, even though he has been working with Carolina Herrera for the past year. His unique stamp is imprinted on modern wedding dresses inspired by style icons of bygone eras and contemporary brides who are brave enough to try something new. The range comprises both classical bridal styles and innovative looks accentuated with colourful details such as embroidered blooms or big satin bows in the sweetest pastel shades.
The bridal spring 2019 collection offers 23 adorable styles including everything from heavily embellished floral tulle gowns, dramatic trumpet dresses, and uncomplicated styles ideal for pre-wedding parties. Each piece is carefully crafted by the House design team from the first sketch on paper to the last seam on the dress. Embellishments are carefully thought through and the designs are drafted by the in-house embroidery designer while the hand-beading is done in India. It takes twelve weeks to complete each style as it passes through twenty-five hands. The attention to detail is perfect!
Playful and romantic, this range draws inspiration from modern weddings and daring brides who are not afraid to wear a cutting-edge dress silhouette, a colourful outfit or even a pair of trousers and a sexy top. And knowing that every woman has a unique style, Gordon wanted to spoil his brides-to-be with an incredibly versatile collection and maybe even tempt them to pick up more than just one outfit for the day.
Some dresses are the epitome of classic elegance, especially the Hadley Gown that took 120 hours to complete as it features impossibly delicate hand-crafted floral appliques. This beautiful dress was paired with a matching veil adorned with the same embellishments. Elsewhere, oversized satin bows in purple, yellow, blue and pink added a splash of colour and extravaganza.
The designer was inspired by the cult 1940s movie The Philadelphia Story starring Hollywood’s style icon Katharine Hepburn. The actress wore a number of stunning outfits designed by Adrian, including a breathtaking white wedding gown made of layers of sheer satin organza.
