The Glitz & Glamour From The Golden Globes 2017

Here at The Bride’s Diary® we live for the next red carpet event and the first big fashion event of 2017, the Golden Globes kicked off with a stunning line-up of couture evening gowns ranging from glittery silver frocks to wedding-worthy white dresses!

The 74th Golden Globes ceremony at Beverly Hilton Hotel was marked by the victory of La La Land which received seven Golden Globes, Meryl Streep’s passionate speech after receiving the Cecil B. DeMille award, the mini Sex and the City reunion at the HBO after-party and, of course, the glitzy red carpet event with all of those stunning couture gowns competing for the unofficial fashion accolades.

From gleaming metallic shades and off-the-shoulder silhouettes to romantic looks in white and blush pinks, the line-up of gowns included some bold fashion statements and so much wedding inspiration! Sparkly dresses festooned with glittery, metallic sequins, beads, laces and threads were a huge trend at the Golden Globes 2017, and the styles ranged from Chrissy Teigen’s timelessly elegant Marchesa gown with gold lace detailing to the sexy, Gatsby-inspired fringed dress designed by Naeem Khan which looked stunning on Gina Rodriguez. The colour palette also included yellow sported by Emily Ratajkowski, blush-pink worn by Carrie Underwood and scarlet-red which Brie Larson selected for the occasion.

Floral designs were popular too, and our favourite look is definitely Giuliana Rancic’s opulent multi-coloured gown created by Rani Zakhem. And while you may not be able to source a red carpet original for your wedding day, you can certainly gain so much inspiration from celebrity fashion. Then take your ideas to your bridal bouqitue, or couture designer, to bring a touch of red carpet glam to your dream wedding dress.
