Ziad Nakad’s haute couture collection for fall/winter 2016/2017 showcased in Paris is dedicated to daring, powerful, stylish and successful women of the world. It is luxurious, colourful and extravagant, but exudes elegance, sophistication and femininity. The dresses seductively cling to the body, and the materials are covered with crystals, sequins and beads in an array of jewellery-inspired shades such as ruby red, sapphire blue and emerald green. The colour palette also includes bridal whites and ivories, dark champagne hues and subtle pastel shades like blush pink, mint green and lilac.
Ziad Nakad’s woman is the queen of red carpet who is always wearing the most elaborate, aristocratic gown, be it a daring translucent fit-and-flare number or an opulent ball gown. The silhouettes in this collection also include beautiful A-lines, sheaths and columns with puffed, fringed or cape-like sleeves, plunging or illusion necklines, and thin bejewelled sashes wrapped around the waist. Off-the-shoulder bodices were featured on both long and short-sleeved gowns, but a few dresses had high collars and ball gown overlays which are ever so regal and perfect for winter weddings.
Ever since he established his fashion label in 1997, Ziad Nakad loved sheer embroideries, eccentric fabrics and unconventional beading. These remained to be the signature elements of his style. He is renowned for his incredible attention to detail, and it is visible in every single piece of this divine collection. The dresses are impeccably tailored, lavishly adorned and perfectly sculpted to flatter the female figure.
The most luxurious taffetas, tulles, silk chiffons and guipures were embellished with feathers, sequins, crystals, beads, 3D floral appliques, 1920’s inspired fringed details and intricate embroideries. So many dresses from Ziad Nakad’s couture collection can easily double as wedding gowns! Ivory and pastel-hued dresses that opened the show are perfect for romantic brides who love elegant vintage or luxe bohemian style, while the white ball gown that closed the show is glamorous enough for a real-life princess.
The very first dress with a princess A-line silhouette, a semi-translucent skirt and floral appliques particularly caught our eye, but we also loved the kaftan-style gown with metallic embroidery! Brides-to-be who love flapper style fashion will adore the fringes and feathers, and those looking for a coloured wedding dress will have a stunning choice of royal shades to choose from.
