Oscar de la Renta Spring 2017

From lavish hand-embroidered Mikado silk ballgowns to simple mini crepe dresses, Oscar de la Renta's spring collection caters for every type of bride-to-be.

Oscar de la Renta designer Peter Copping said that he was thinking about "different women, different sorts of brides, different ways of getting married” when putting together this stunning 25-piece collection. “It was very important that the collection had a wide range and can touch on different needs that women have for their wedding day”.

For brides who want to get married in a classic ballgown, Copping created several beautiful looks including a draped silk gown with a strapless neckline and an embellished tulle overlay featuring floral degrade embroidery. The most flamboyant ball gown was definitely the one featuring 1,650 hand-sewn Swarovski crystal embellishments and a removable train made from 80 yards of softest tulle.

If you prefer a more lightweight fabric and a less dramatic silhouette for a spring wedding, there is a beautiful corded lace gown with a crepe de chine lining, long sleeves and an exposed back. This dress was beautifully accessorised with a silver crystal choker, three gorgeous rings and moire faille jewel sandals.

Another stand out for us was the short silk crepe dress which featured a hemline adorned with pearls and ostrich feathers. It is ideal for a bride opting for an effortless but chic look for a relaxed daytime wedding, while the tulle and organza gown with draped off-the-shoulder sleeves and degrade sequin embroidery is an ideal choice for a bride who wants a stunning evening dress but prefers a modern, whimsical designs and ethereal fabrics to heavy silks and traditional voluminous skirts.

Novelty on-trend details included thin corsets, three-dimensional blooms and delicate flower petals, embellished bridal jackets worn on top of column dresses and plunging necklines which looked amazing on both luxurious ball gowns and streamlined embellishment-free dresses.

Hair and beauty for the runway perfectly complemented Copping’s extraordinary Oscar de la Renta wedding gowns. Flawless, fresh-faced make-up was paired with elegant up-dos and the look worked for every dress in the range.

Oscar de la Renta spring 2017 collection also features two breath-taking flower girl outfits including an elaborate tulle and guipure lace dress with a pink taffeta sash which is just perfect for glamorous events, and a bohemian tiered cotton frock which is ideal for laid-back beach weddings.
