A ballgown with a skirt that is higher at the front and longer at the back is the hottest new wedding dress trend that dominated spring 2017 catwalks. We spotted some gorgeous looks at Monique Lhuillier, Ines Di Santo, Rosa Cara, Justin Alexander and Legends by Romona Keveza shows. High and low ballgowns come in different shapes from those that are very short at the front to ones that just reveal your fabulous shoes.
Beautiful embellishments are a must if you want a wedding dress that will make everyone gasp when you arrive at your ceremony! From delicate lace appliques and intricate embroideries to opulent three-dimensional blooms, bridal fashion designers were very creative with embellishments this season. Zuhair Murad’s ball gowns are dripping with embellishments while Angel Sanchez and Oscar de la Renta feature subtle ornaments and Naeem Khan even showcased a ball gown adorned with colourful blue embroidered blossoms.
If you want a comfortable and lightweight wedding dress that has that ballgown feel but without all that fabric and volume, then you can opt for a wedding dress that features a pretty overlay. This trend has been seen for a while and it will remain to be popular in 2017. We love the looks from Watters, Romona Keveza, Marchesa and Kelly Faetanini.
Or perhaps you would like to wear a coloured ballgown on your wedding day? From subtle shades of pink and blue to darker greys and even vibrant hues, there is a myriad of options to choose from. We loved Christian Siriano’s voluminous gown with a sweetheart neckline and ombre pink skirt, Elizabeth Polignano’s flamboyant grey dress, Sareh Nouri’s dreamy ball gown in grey, Romona Keveza’s floral print in lilac, pale blue lace gown by Rosa Clara and Ines Di Santo’s embellished blush pink dress.
Deconstructed ballgown skirts made from layers of tulle or organza are also a huge bridal fashion trend for spring 2017 and we love it! Lightweight and ethereal, these dresses are perfect for warm weather and they look just as glamorous as traditional ballgowns. Reem Acra, Pronovias, Rivini, Watters, Justin Alexander, and Nouvelle Amsale showcased truly astonishing ball gowns with layered skirts!
