Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2016 Haute Couture Collection

From hand-painted florals to intricate embroideries, the latest couture collection by Ralph & Russo oozes with romance and features an array of stunning bridal looks.

Inspired by spring and delicate femininity, the new couture collection for spring and summer 2016 by Ralph & Russo brings colourful floral patterns, finest embroideries and divine textures. The wedding gown which closed the show is definitely one of the key pieces as it epitomises the theme and the mood of the collection, but there were also other elaborate frocks which could double as bridal dresses.

The fabrics were truly luxurious! From ethereal silk gazars and fluttery organzas to the softest tulles and most elaborate laces, the fabrics were carefully picked and embellished. Textures and volumes were just stunning, while silhouettes vary from short and long A-line to ball gown shapes and column styles. Unique details included dramatic peplums which accentuate the waist, capes and capelets which are worn on top of glamorous gowns, long, airy sleeves and breath-taking hand-painted florals. Embellishments included sparkly beads, feather and delicate floral appliques in an array of colours ranging from gleaming metallic shades to bridal whites and soft pastels.

From Japanese kimonos to 1950’s inspired dresses, a lot of different influences shaped the collection which was a beautiful and subtle blend of tradition and modernity. Apart from the magnificent embroidered A-line gown with floor-sweeping kimono-style sleeves and a long train, our favourite wedding day looks include a pink ruffled gown, a strapless light blue gown with organza blooms (pictured above), a long-sleeved translucent dress with silver floral appliques and a white tea-length gown with hand-painted peonies and tulips in sapphire blue, blush pink and lavender inspired by Chinese calligraphy. These gowns are perfect for brides who want to walk down the aisle wearing a coloured wedding dress rather than a traditional bridal gown. We also loved the crisp white frocks ranging from sophisticated bohemian-style frocks to glamorous ball gowns.

The dresses were beautifully styled with luxury accessories such as sparkly crowns and embellished high heel shoes. This pair of white stilettos with blue and pink blossom motifs caught our eye and we think they are a fabulous detail to go with a white wedding gown!

The make-up to complement the gowns included a natural-looking pink lip and a soft black winged eyeliner, while the hair was gathered in elegant buns or soft ponytails.
