Dazzling evening gowns and the glam make-up from the 2016 Golden Globe Awards can be inspiration for your engagement party, your bridal styling for the wedding day or even the bridesmaid outfits. Some looks were more daring and fashion-forward, while others were romantic and classical. We even spotted some gorgeous vintage-style red carpet gowns! Colourwise, celebrities sported everything from vibrant reds and sultry burgundies to crisp whites, deep blues, sorbet pastels and sparkly champagne hues.
Red dresses on the red carpet! Jennifer Lawrence really nailed the look with a Dior gown accessorised with a statement necklace by Chopard. Natalie Dormer also opted for the sensual red, and wore a gorgeous draped gown by J Mendel that featured a black bejewelled collar. Styled with diamond earrings and a burgundy clutch bag, this dress was definitely a winner. Emmy Rossum picked a streamlined red dress by Armani Prive which looked amazing with vibrant red lipstick, and Olivia Wilde was certainly one of the best dressed divas in a Michael Kors burgundy gown embellished with sequins.
Navy blue was a big trend on the red carpet, and we think its the perfect inspiration for your bridesmaid outfits. Kate Winslet’s choice would be perfect for this occasion as she picked a simple, but elegant gown by Ralph Lauren, while Julianne Moore opted for a slightly more glamorous evening look and wore a long-sleeved, sparkly dress in navy blue by Tom Ford. Can you see yourself in this outfit at your engagement party? We also loved Jenna Dewan Tatum’s dazzling Zuhair Murad gown embellished with sequins and Gina Rodriguez’s satin ball gown by Zac Posen.
Nothing screams evening glamour like a luxurious black gown, and we picked a few styles that looked exceptionally beautiful on the red carpet. Our favourites were definitely Valentino dresses worn by Kirsten Dunst and Emilia Clarke, but we also liked Lady Gaga’s custom-made off-the-shoulder Atelier Versace gown and a simple column dress by Narcisco Rodriguez which Sophia Bush so cleverly paired with a bold red lip and a diamond necklace.
From pale blush hues and soft pastels to rosey tones, pink was one of the most popular colours on the red carpet this year. Cate Blanchet picked a vintage-style Givenchy gown with tassels and embroidery in a very light shade of pink and styled it with Tiffany & Co. jewels and a stylish, retro faux bob. Kate Bosworth channelled modern glamour in a bejewelled Dolce & Gabbana strapless gown. Amber Heard’s draped Gucci gown with floral appliques around the neckline is a cute choice for a bridesmaid outfit, and Leslie Mann’s Monique Lhuillier dress can be worn at different special occasions.
White is always a popular choice for red carpet events. Many celebrities at the 2016 Golden Globes opted for white frocks, and our favourite look was a draped A-line Marchesa dress worn by Lily James. She styled it with Harry Winston jewellery, while her hair and make-up were elegant and natural which we think is the perfect bridal beauty look. We also loved Saoirse Ronan’s Saint Laurent couture gown which is quite simple, but features a long, cape-like train, and Alicia Vikander’s Louis Vuitton gown with ruffled detailing. Laverne Cox also looked elegant in white, and her dress by Elizabeth Kennedy had a dramatic train.
But nothing beats glittery embellishments which shine so brightly against the red backdrop! One of the most beautiful sparkly gowns we spotted on the red carpet was Eva Green’s Elie Saab number in a soft champagne hue. It could easily double as a wedding gown just like Malin Akerman’s Reem Acra strapless, embellished dress with a peplum waist. Our eye was also caught by Atelier Versace gown in champagne gold worn by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as well as the stunning glittery silver frock by Theia which Jane Wu picked for the red carpet.
