Inspired by spring florals and the fragrant white Jasmine plant, the Carolina Herrera Bridal collection for spring/summer 2016 simply oozes with romance. It evokes the brand’s iconic Carolina Herrera fragrance for women created in 1988 and celebrates the heritage of this renowned fashion house which is a synonym for sophistication and elegance. The white Jasmine was the central motif that defined the collection and it appeared in prints, embroideries, bridal bouquets, jewellery and hair accessories. “When I was growing up, my bedroom was near the garden next to a jasmine plant. It used to open in the evening, and the smell, I loved it”, said Carolina Herrera when asked to explain why this beautiful flower is so important to her and how it influenced her creative work.
We loved every single look from the latest Carolina Herrera Bridal collection which is wonderfully versatile and caters for literally every type of bride. The range features everything from elaborate ball gowns to chic trouser suits which make the perfect wedding dress alternative for modern brides. Many designers embraced this trend, but no one managed to pull it off quite like Herrera who styled the trouser suit with floral hair accessories and sexy white stilettos. And while modern wedding dresses looked sexy with fit-and-flare silhouettes, plunging necklines and illusion detailing, traditional gowns were figure-flattering as well, with tightly fitted bodices. “These brides are romantic… but I want them to be seductive”, said Herrera.
The wedding dress silhouettes from Carolina Herrera Bridal spring/summer 2016 range from tightly fitted mermaid styles to dramatic ball gowns with puffed skirts, while the selection of fabrics includes tulle, silk organza, Chantilly and Guipure lace. Hand-stitched floral embroidery on silk faille looked truly spectacular on the catwalk, and we also loved the colourful floral prints on a white A-line dress that closed the show. Bold florals printed on white fabric is yet another modern wedding dress trend to consider for the forthcoming season. It is a fantastic way to add a pop of colour to your bridal outfit without abandoning the concept of a traditional wedding dress.
