The Met Gala 2015 celebrated the opening of the new exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art entitled China: Through the Looking Glass, and was co-hosted by Anna Wintour, Jennifer Lawrence, Chinese actress Gong Li and others. From voluminous skirts and dramatic trains to sexy silhouettes, these red carpet dress trends can definitely be translated into gorgeous wedding day looks.

Poppy Delevingne wore a flamboyant red gown by Marchesa with big red 3D blooms sewn into the bodice, while Brie Larson and Anabelle Wallis showed up in bright-coloured red carpet dresses covered by Dolce & Gabbana’s delightful spring blossoms. Courtney Eaton also wore a Dolce & Gabbana gown, which would make lovely wedding dresses.

Karl Lagerfeld’s latest collection for Chanel Haute Couture was all about colourful blooms, and we spotted a few of his couture gowns on the red carpet. Diane Kruger wore his amazing ivory trouser suit and looked like a blushing bride with white flowers in her hair and a tiny heart-shaped red purse.

There were a lot of red couture gowns at the Met Gala. Alison Williams wore a Giambattista Valli dress embellished with black crystals, while Gigi Hadid paired her Diane Von Furstenberg frock with strappy red heels.

Rose Byrne opted for a textural revealing dress from Calvin Klein Collection and Karen Elson picked a regal-style gown from Dolce & Gabbana with a big puffy skirt that blended with the red carpet and bejewelled bodice accessorised with a golden crown.

We have seen some amazing wedding-worthy red carpet dresses in traditional whites and ivories, but also in lovely blush pinks and pastels. Amanda Seyfried wore a romantic ivory couture gown by Givenchy. Lizzy Caplain channelled vintage glamour in a stunning blush pink Donna Karan Atelier dress.

Lily Aldridge chose a light blue Carolina Herrera gown and accessorised it with a cute fish-shaped clutch in the same shade, while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley sported a sexy, figure-hugging dress from Atelier Versace.

Kendal Jenner opted for a green dress by Calvin Klein Collection and finished off the look with Chopard jewellery. Karlie Kloss wore a black couture gown from Atelier Versace and styled it with stunning emerald green earrings.

We also loved Kate Beckinsale’s outfit choice for the Met Gala, which was a gorgeous glittery couture gown from Diane Von Furstenberg, but Kerry Washington stole the show in her flamboyant pink Prada gown styled with a emerald green shoes and clutch.
