Costa Rica, Central America

Costa Rica is a unique destination where you can wed in a rain forest, on the beach, in a tropical garden or by a majestic waterfall and it boasts a number of exquisite eco resorts.

Location

Costa Rica’s stunning natural beauty, rich biodiversity and an admirable reputation for eco-tourism attracts couples from all over the world. Here you can host your destination wedding and have your romantic honeymoon – all in one fabulous location, be it a private villa or a luxury eco resort. You will be surrounded with breath-taking landscapes offering picture-perfect backdrops for your wedding ceremony and photos, banquet reception and romantic dinners.

The history of eco-tourism in Costa Rica begins with the establishment of the Cabo Blanco National Reserve in 1963. With 22 national parks, 10 wildlife reserves and other protected areas, it is one of the most bio-diverse regions in the world with the highest density of plants and animal species. About 25% of its territory is a protected area and its versatile natural landscape includes many types of forests, pristine beaches, wetlands, caves and volcanoes. Just imagine celebrating your nuptials in such an inspirational setting!

When to get married?

Costa Rica is a year-round warm destination with the average annual temperature between 21 and 27 degrees Celsius. When planning your destination wedding take into account that the rainy season lasts from May to October, so avoid this time of year if you want a dry outdoor ceremony. March through to May is the hottest time of year while November, December and January are the coolest months. And while September and October are the wettest, months between December and April have little or no rain, which is why this is the best time to organise your celebration.

Where to get married?

Wedding venues in Costa Rica range from simple and affordable to high-end luxury, but for eco-conscious couples, we recommend a destination wedding in one of the eco resorts where you can enjoy delicious food made from organic produce in an unspoiled natural setting.

Some of the best eco resorts and lodges that are hosting weddings include the Four Seasons at Peninsula Papagayo, Finca Luna Nueva, and Bosque del Cabo Rainforest Lodge. Along with exquisite reception and ceremony locations, these venues offer comfortable accommodation, tranquil spas and delicious healthy food, so consider extending your stay and spending your honeymoon there as well.
