Meghan Markle’s engagement ring was a nod to the late Princess Diana and each stone has a secret meaning! Prince Harry wanted to ensure his mother is involved in the wedding from start to finish and said he wanted her to accompany him and Meghan “on this crazy journey together”. While the Duke of Cambridge proposed to his wife with Diana’s famous blue sapphire ring, his brother decided to make a unique piece and incorporate family heirloom into the design.

The ring features a simple gold band and three diamonds. The main stone was sourced in Botswana, which Harry refers to as his second home. He visited this country for the first time in 1977, right after his mother’s death, and more recently he has enjoyed a long vacation there with Meghan. “This is where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world”, he admits.

The ring also features two smaller diamonds on each side which were selected from Diana’s personal jewellery collection. Prince Harry created the design himself and then commissioned Cleave Court Jewellers to make a customised piece.

If you want an engagement ring fit for a princess, you can print out the picture of Meghan’s sparkler and take it to one of the renowned Aussie jewellers who specialise in custom creations. It is fairly easy to re-create this design, and while the original costs about $20,000, we are sure you will get it for a better price!
