The event will be held at the Brisbane Showgrounds Exhibition Building from Friday 18th of May to Sunday 20th of May, 2018. Cake makers will compete in a range of categories including wedding cake artistry, cupcake bouquet design, sculpted busts, sugar-crafting, celebration cakes, edible art and buttercream cakes. The more adventurous artists will even attempt to make staggering gravity defying creations, breath-taking edible floral designs and enter the architectural tribute cake category with this year’s theme being iconic Australian structure. And since 2018 is the year of the royal marriage between HRH Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, there will also be a special Eddie Spence Tribute category dedicated to the Royal Icing Master who has created many adorable wedding cakes for Buckingham Palace.
Brides looking for inspiration will be able to visit the Haute Couture Wedding Cake Designer’s Marquee where Australia’s best and most-wanted wedding cake makers will display their fascinating creations. The nine finalists will compete for the country’s most prestigious award, the Australian Haute Couture Wedding Cake Designer of the Year. Each designer has the challenge to create an haute couture wedding cake in the theme of “Rich, Royal & Regal” and the winner will be announced on the evening of the Royal Wedding.
The ACADA International Cake Show Australia also offers plenty of other fun activities and attractions. You will be able to pick up unique ideas at workshops, masterclasses and pop up shops. And at feature booths, you will be able to pose for photos in front and inside the gigantic, awe-inspiring cake installations.
