The Golden Globes red carpet is a majestic showcase of the most elaborate and most intriguing couture gowns, and for me, it is one of the most awaited fashion events of the year. In order to place the focus on gender equality and support the ‘Time’s Up’ campaign, almost all of the celebrities adopted the ‘all-in-black’ dress code.
The Golden Globes is always brimming with bridal inspiration, and this year was no exception, you just need to reimagine the dresses in white or ivory. From refined fabrics to trains, capes and intricate embellishments, I love the finer details and thought many of the looks were truly wedding-worthy.
I particularly loved Nicole Kidman’s stunning Givenchy Couture gown, the lavish Ralph & Russo lace dress with solid train worn by Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger’s dramatic Prada ball gown with a shimmery train and Angelina Jolie’s Atelier Versace dress which would be ideal for a winter wedding. On the other hand, Emma Stone’s asymmetric, on-the-shoulder lace dress by Louis Vuitton would make a stunning bridesmaid style, especially when worn with such a bold make-up look that included emerald green eyeshadow and violet stained lips.
Other gorgeous black gowns that stood out on the red carpet include the ruffled Valentino Couture showpiece worn by Lily James, the black Gucci gown featuring silver embellishments which Margot Robbie selected for the occasion, the sleek and structured Zac Posen gown worn by Reese Witherspoon, Dakota Johnson’s Gucci dress with striking shimmery detailing at the back, the stunning Jean Paul Gaultier’s dress worn by Naomi Campbell, Oprah Winfrey’s decadent plush gown, Rachel Brosnahan’s draped Vionnet gown and Alessandra Mastronardi’s all-black head-to-toe Chanel outfit.
