The Barossa Valley: A Unique Country Honeymoon Destination

From romantic accommodation and idyllic pastoral landscapes to divinely fresh food and premium wine, the Barossa Valley has everything you need for a relaxing honeymoon in the countryside!

The Barossa Valley is best known for its premium wines and delicious local food, but it is also a premiere country destination for tourists and honeymooners, boasting idyllic historic homesteads, cosy B&Bs and rustic spa retreats. It is one of South Australia’s most beautiful regions, located only 60 kilometres northeast of Adelaide CBD, and it has a unique character due to the heritage left by the first European settlers who came here in 1842.

The picturesque villages of the Barossa Valley are oozing with old world charm and you almost feel like you travelled back through time! Old German culinary traditions survived here so you can taste authentic würst, cured meats, artisan cheeses, home-baked breads, pickle and preserves made by using six generations-old recipes! All that glorious food tastes even better when paired with region’s famed wines! The Barossa Valley produces 21% of Australia’s wine, and its Shiraz is world-famous, but it is also well known for its distinct cool-climate wines.

You can explore Barossa’s renowned wine and cheese trails by car or by bicycles, but you can also book a hot air balloon ride if you want to see the majestic vineyards from above! Other unique experiences include a day at a spa, a game of golf, shopping at the local farmers’ market and exploring the local art scene.
