Ziad Nakad’s couture collection for fall/winter 2016/2017 is a homage to powerful, audacious women hence the defile of bold, seductive and colourful gowns we saw on the Paris catwalk. The most luxurious fabrics such as taffetas, silk chiffons, tulles and guipures were elaborately embellished with sparkly sequins and beads, coloured feathers and delicate fabric blossoms, exuding the romance of the 19th and 20th century. We are sure vintage-loving brides will adore this collection because there are so many fringes, feathers and embroideries. These bold details were so masterfully put together to create a breath-taking array of very different styles ranging from ball gowns to seductive and modern fit-and-flares.
Most of these gowns aren’t traditionally bridal styles, but there are at least 10 pieces you can wear on your big day. The show opened with a number of gorgeous dresses in bright ivories, blushes and mint greens, followed by jewel-coloured red, blue, purple and green gowns. The highlight of the collection was definitely the opulent, voluminous and intricately embroidered white ball gown which is just glamorous enough for a royal wedding.
