The 2016 autumn/winter couture collection for Paolo Sebastian inspired by winter and Slavic folk tales made a spectacular ending of the Adelaide Fashion Festival, and my personal favourite was a stunning wedding gown that took 90 hours to make!
This week I wanted to write to you about Paolo Sebastian, one of Australia’s best couture labels renowned for luxurious red carpet gowns and wedding dresses. The latest coutue collection by Paolo Sebastian was showcased at the very end of the Adelaide Fashion Festival and it truly was the cherry on top!
The designer Paul Vasileff was inspired by the tales of the Snow Maiden from the Slavic tradition and styled the catwalk to look like a winter fairytale setting. The dresses drenched in crystalline snowflakes are simply ideal for a winter bride, and there was even a glamorous winter coat in sky blue and white which is the perfect bridal accessory for an Alpine-style wedding!
The intricate embellishments and embroideries evoke the glamour and elegance of Valentino or Elie Saab’s couture creations, which is why his gowns are much loved by celebrities. Giuliana Rancic, Kris Jenner, Paloma Faith and Ada Nicodemou are some of the a-listers who have worn his gowns for red carpet events such as the Oscars.
The Snow Maiden collection for autumn/winter 2016 showcases all the key assets of this renowned brand which includes impeccable craftsmanship and breath-taking design. With a colour palette that ranges from black and navy to ivory and white, there were so many wedding-worthy gowns, but also occasion dresses you could wear for your engagement party, or any other special event. My personal favourite was the gown that closed the show. This dramatic, long-sleeved ball gown is so intricately adorned that it took 90 hours to sew all the embellishments by hand!
