Being invited to be someone’s bridesmaid is a great honour and it should be more than just wearing a pretty dress on the wedding day. A good bridesmaid will offer her help during the wedding planning process, attend and help organise all the important events and always be there to help the bride.

Be Positive
One of the key tips for bridesmaids is to always be positive and supportive. Even if you don’t like the bride’s choice of the bridesmaid dress, respect her decision because it is her big day after all. Feel free to give her ideas, but don’t be too critical. Remember that the bride will need your moral support more than anything. If she feels stressed, think of ways to make her feel better and organise fun activities to help her relax.
Be Punctual
Since you are a member of the bridal party, you will need to be very punctual. Since the list of duties includes attending fittings and pre-wedding events, bridesmaids need to arrive everywhere on time. This is especially important on the day of the wedding when they need to do their hair and make-up and show up at bride’s place at a certain time. Being late can cause a lot of stress for the bride, so reliability is really crucial.
Offer Help
Rather than waiting for the bride or matron of honour to give you assignments, offer your help during the wedding preparations. Ask if you can assist the bride with shopping or making DIY decorations. You can also throw a shower for the bride and help the matron of honour organise a fabulous hen’s night. If the bride needs some creative ideas for styling her wedding venue, why not take her to a wedding fair or buy her a magazine that will inspire her!
