Monique Lhuillier’s blushing brides looked surreal on the catwalk, wrapped in clouds of tulle and resembling a little girl’s dream about her wedding with prince charming. However, her fashion fairy tale also had a dark side, as she showcased a range of seductive, figure-hugging styles which are perfect for brides who want to show off their curves on their big day.
Lhuillier’s bride is romantic but also modern and extremely confident. She is brave enough to choose a ball gown with a plunging V-neck or a mermaid dress in a pastel shade rather than to blindly obey traditional rules. Some of the bridal trends featured in the collection are tiered skirts and very deep necklines, which were combined together, but the key novelty item was transformable dresses, which can be worn in more than one way.
Since she loves to use colours for her wedding gowns, Lhuillier included delightful soft hues like blush pinks, honey and sky blue in her spring/summer 2016 collection, and we think they look even more romantic and sophisticated than classic whites and ivories. Sparkly hair accessories perfectly complemented the dresses, while transparent tulle veils occasionally doubled as mini capes covering shoulders and arms.
