Inspired by Botticelli’s Primavera and Pussin’s Realm of Flora, Ralph & Russo’s couture collection for spring and summer 2015 features gorgeous feminine dresses adorned with pastel-coloured flower appliqués and sophisticated embroidery.
Australian designers Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo of Ralph & Russo are the only London-based couturiers who can showcase their collections at Haute Couture Week in Paris and what makes their style unique is not just exquisite craftsmanship, but also feminine silhouettes and romantic designs that complement the female figure. Celebrities who appreciate their work include Eva Longoria, Beyonce, Angelina Jolie and Dita Von Teese who watched their show from the first row at the Grand Palais.
The collection was named ‘The Awakening of Flora’ and the colour palette inspired by spring blooms includes soft pinks, mints and cornflower blue, along with whites, ivories and silver shades. From chic fifties-style frocks to elaborate full-length gowns, almost every look from the show can double as a wedding gown. Flower motifs were embroidered, sewn onto the fabrics in the form of petal-shaped appliqués and sculpted from soft organza that clasps the body like an oversized blossom. The show was closed with a spectacular off-the-shoulder wedding gown with a long train and dramatic veil adorned with silver embroidery and shiny beads.
