Elie Saab’s gorgeous couture collection for spring and summer 2015 features plenty of soft pastels, floral prints and fluttery ostrich feathers.
Elie Saab is best known for his opulent red carpet gowns worn by top celebrities and glamorous wedding gowns that many brides-to-be around the globe are dreaming about, grew up in Beirut during the sixties surrounded by the world of high fashion, glamour and decadent parties. This is where his love for glittery embellished evening dresses comes from, and his latest couture collection focuses on his early childhood and pays tribute to his mother’s tulip-printed dress. Oversized blooms appear on embroidered dresses but are also printed on silk and come in the form of hand-sewn appliqués. Even the wedding gown which closed the show was influenced by the very same dress worn by his mother.
The materials he used include silks, tulle and ostrich feathers, while shiny embellishments were minimised. The range comprises fifty-five evening looks, including a number of above-the-knee cocktail-style frocks worn with flat sandals. The colour palette ranges from whites and ivories to deep blues, blush pinks and blacks, and we think the collection is a wonderful source of inspiration for future brides.
