Heidi and Angus decided that the bride’s parent’s farm would make a wonderful wedding day location. Their vision was for a big country paddock party with their guests being served Pimms while playing croquet, followed by a shared farmhouse style meal, with excellent wines and fabulous country fair.
So with their burlap, white, pink, and green colour palette locked in, preparations began. With the bride’s parents’ stunning farm as their inspiration, plus some serious help and support from family and friends, Heidi and Angus managed to turn a paddock into a romantic wedding venue.
Heidi says that if anyone had told her that she would wear pink to her wedding, she would have thought them completely crazy. That was until she found this gorgeous Alexis George blush pink gown with its sweetheart bodice and divine detailing… then it was love at first fitting!
Not even the unseasonably cold weather could dampen spirits when the couple’s wedding day dawned. One of the many highlights was the touching moment when Angus’ grandmother gave the very same reading she had given many years before at Angus’ parents’ wedding.
Another was having the aptly named ‘Bridal Express’ Heidi’s grandfather’s beautifully restored 1934 Diamond T – for their wedding party transport. With the bride’s father behind the wheel, everything went smoothly until the gears became stuck.
The wedding celebration included great wines and local food served as share platters, which created a wonderful sense of being included at a big family farm dinner. The couple’s bomboniere was another family affair: jam jars were filled with delectable favourites – including Heidi’s granny’s mustard pickle and her mother’s quince jelly – all made with love by the bride and groom’s mothers, helped by a sensational support crew of aunties and bridesmaids.
After cutting the couples beautiful wedding cake – a scrumptious cake created by two of the couple’s very good friends and topped with fresh flowers – the dancing began and, not surprisingly, continued long into the night.
