Reem Acra’s illuminated brides, in shimmery gowns and with LED-adorned floral wreaths wrapped around their heads and waists, literally awed the audience at Bridal Fashion Week in New York.
The designer famous for her sexy wedding dresses and intricate embroidery centred her new fall/winter 2015 collection around the concept of light. “I wanted to say that you can have fun at your wedding”, she explained, and we think her gorgeous dresses definitely included a lot of fun elements. The first two looks were two-piece bridal gowns with long skirts and cropped tops, which are ideal for winter destination weddings, while the final piece was a true artwork made of embroidered translucent layers.
From silk chiffon and fluttery organza to thin laces and tulle, this collection includes a lot of summery fabrics. We loved the illusion necks, backs and sleeves that were almost invisible, but we also spotted a few heavier silk dresses towards the end of the show, which are more appropriate for winter weddings.
The key accessory was a thin and delicate floral wreath, which was worn in different ways: as a bouquet alternative, a delicate sash or a hair accessory. Headpieces were truly impressive since flowers were combined with brooches and other pieces of jewellery to make unique crowns and hair adornments.
