Monique Lhuillier’s bridal collection for fall 2015 was inspired by old jewellery boxes and ballerinas and featured gorgeous pastel hues and plenty of metallic embellishments. Soft mints, lavenders, peaches, blush pinks and gold tones dominated while there were barely a few white and ivory styles.
Textures were exciting too with countless layers of soft tulle embellished with metallic beads and flora appliqués. However, the collection featured both opulent gowns and elegant ready-to-wear styles made from lace, which we think, were very sophisticated too. Silhouettes varied from A-line cocktail frocks and tea-length dresses, to trumpet shapes and ball gowns.
The dresses were accessorised with elegant earrings and metallic headpieces with floral motifs, while the hair was parted on the side and tied in neat buns. The make-up was very sophisticated too and models had perfect, glowing skin, flushed cheeks and a nude lip, while eyes were accented with eye shadow and mascara.
“This season I was really excited about showing colour”, she said. “Brides come to me and I always say, ‘It can still be your day without being in a white dress.’ I’m here to open up their minds a little bit”.
