Famous for making incredibly beautiful, romantic red carpet dresses and wedding gowns, Elie Saab is much loved by celebrities and millions of future brides around the world are having fantasies of getting married in one of them.
His Spring/Summer 2014 Couture collection is stunningly beautiful and features fairy-tale dresses made from layers of silk and tulle embellished with thousands of flower appliqués.
Saab was inspired by artworks of the Dutch painter from the 19th century, Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, and used his pastel colour palette for his gowns. While the show begins with pure white and slowly starts transforming into bright shades of pink, blue, champagne and lilac and then descends into dark purple and pitch black via interesting ombre transitions.
Just like every Saab’s couture show, this one can also be seen as a peculiar bridal collection which features the whole range of beautiful wedding dresses. The most talked about piece was of course the final look from the show. It was a massive white wedding gown with a long tail – a stunning piece of hand-work studded with hundreds of floral appliqués and adorned with a beautiful veil.
Saab’s dresses are elegant and timeless, but most importantly – they look gorgeous on a female body, which is why they are simply ideal for glamorous weddings.
