Theme Ideas: Seaside

Organising a beach themed wedding is a great option for couples planning to tie the knot during the summer months.

Whether you prefer to celebrate your nuptials at an informal party on the sand or having a lunch or dinner at an elegant oceanfront venue, start with setting your colour scheme and choose beautiful beach-inspired props and decorations to create beautiful styling.

Reception Décor

Reception Décor

The optimal colour palette for a beach themed wedding is white paired with sky blue or navy, but you can also include shades of sand, coral and seashells, or even organise an all-in-white reception with a few ocean-inspired details painted in white. Whether you have chosen an outdoor or indoor space for your celebration, we think lighting is essential for your evening reception. Weddingstar’s round paper lanterns in ombre will look fabulous on the beach or inside any modern-style interior, but you can also use their flameless battery operated tea lights to add romantic flair to your reception.

Shell place card holders are a fantastic addition to any elegant table decoration, while you can use decorative natural shells to decorate a more relaxed event. Natural shells and starfish can be used for centrepieces, table settings, decorative garlands or even bridal bouquets and you can paint them in any colour if you want them to fit your overall decoration scheme.

Wedding Cake

Your wedding cake can also be adorned with seashells and starfish and if you are looking for a gorgeous statement topper we recommend Weddingstar’s starfish cake topper made from white glazed porcelain. You can also use Weddingstar’s “Row Away” cake topper, which can also be personalised.

Navy inspired wedding cakes with white and blue icing can be very elegant, and you can adorn them with decorative elements such as sailing wheels, ropes and anchors. Remember that your cake should taste as refreshing as it looks, so pick a nice, summery flavour and be creative with embellishments.

Bomboniere

If you want to delight your guests with the ideal wedding favour for a hot summer’s day, why not give them a beautifully designed hand fan! We like Weddingstar’s fan with underwater seascape, which is a great addition to your beach wedding and makes a useful gift that will keep your guests cool throughout the day. Sunglasses and thongs are great wedding favours if you are planning an informal beach wedding, but your guests will also love a disposable camera with an ocean-inspired design so that they can make some amazing vintage snaps of your event. The starfish wine stopper is also one of our favourite beach themed favours from Weddingstar, along with the miniature folding beach chairs which you can double up as a place card by adding a tag with your guests name and your wedding date.

Finishing Touches

Finishing Touches

Finally, don’t forget to add some finishing touches to make the wedding décor more special and unique. Add a fun DIY detail that will bring more colour and liveliness to your space such as paper tassels, pompoms or bunting and think of an exciting guest book alternative such as Weddingstar’s message in a bottle time capsule guest book. If you want to serve fresh drinks on the beach, you can use the oval plastic tubs from Weddingstar and fill them with ice cubes to chill the bottles, and if you want to create a romantic atmosphere, use glass tea light holders to decorate your reception venue.
